1. Which of your pieces most helped you identify or explore and develop your God-given abilities? Discuss.
The final essay I wrote for “The Kite Runner” best exemplifies my willingness to develop my God-given talents. Though the writing process is long and tedious, I still saw my writing experience as a memorable one. For I knew I had sharpened my God-given talents in the process, given that I had learned to craft essays with sophisticated words. One way I strengthened my papers with higher-order vocabularies is by ensuring that I don’t use the same vocabulary persistently. By ensuring that the same word is not used more than three times, I incentivized myself to pick similar-meaning yet more-advanced vocabulary every time I want to repeat a term. Hence by forcing myself to pick synonyms instead of repeating the same terms, I expose myself to different synonyms of the same term. Knowing the various synonyms to a single term, my vocabulary knowledge is widened. Thus, I had enhanced my writing ability.
2. Which of your pieces best demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively? Give three reasons and explain.
My “Worldview Research Paper” perfectly illustrates my ability to communicate effectively. Given that I forbid myself from writing wordy sentences, such piece portrays my immense ability to communicate effectively because I was able to present ideas concisely with little words. In the same prompt, I also minimized the use of gender pronouns. Knowing that the audience may be confused about the subject referred by such pronouns, I jot down the specific names of my subjects in order to prevent bewilderment. Because many scientific terminologies are included in my piece, I must rewrite biological/ ecological terms in my essay. Since most of the audience lack a scientific background, therefore any scientific phrases must be rephrased to ensure comprehension. Ensuring that my readers understand my essay helps me transmit my message effectively, hence this explains why I translated scientific phrases into simple English.
3. Which piece either demonstrates striving for excellence, or discusses striving for excellence and its importance in another area besides writing? Explain.
It is important to strive for excellence when making artwork. This is due to a direct correlation between the appreciation of an artwork and the extravagance of it. Which would you think is a better painting? A portrait by a Parisian artist or a sketch by a pre-teenager. Any rational individual would prefer the former, for it has more decorative elements and less visually unappealing blemishes. In order to craft an extravagant piece, one must strive for excellence by maximizing the decorative elements and minimizing the blemishes. Hence because striving for perfection is necessary for building artwork, therefore it has importance in the field of visual arts
4. Which of your pieces explores why it is important to act as a responsible member of the global community? Explain.
My worldview research essay best portrays the importance of being responsible towards the global community. This is because my paper states that humans have the responsibility to prevent animal cruelty and preserve biodiversity. Taking responsibility for the welfare of animals is also beneficial to the global community, for much of our wealth depends on the well-being of mother nature.
5. How did this course help you to know, understand, and apply biblical principles? Explain, giving specific examples
The class strengthened my understanding of biblical principles by inducing us to read novels related to religious themes. From March to April, we read a Shakespearean Play known as “the Merchant of Venice”. Such a literature piece exemplifies biblical principles from its emphasis on the concept of grace, an idea non-existent in other religious faiths. By learning the grace of God through enjoying the play, I learned the distinction of Christianity from other religions. Thus I am now able to apply biblical principles better as I can preach the gospel to others effectively through attracting them to the concept of Grace that no other religion offered.
6. How did this course help you to think independently, creatively, and analytically? Explain.
Enrolling myself in this course had challenged me to think independently, and creatively and analytically. Various papers in the class, especially the final essay of “The Kite Runner”, had helped me develop such thinking. It is undeniable that I am able to think independently while writing my final essay from which I presented great insight into Amir and Hassan’s life without borrowing any ideas from outside sources. It also obvious that I can think creatively while crafting my final essay by which I addressed the prompt in a unique manner from a standpoint no other students followed. I was also capable of thinking analytically in the final piece: I postulated how Amir and Hassan’s lives would differ had Baba changed his course of action. By making such theories, I am exhibiting analytical thinking because I made deep analysis into the life situations of Baba, Hassan, and Amir.
